Winchester College is a boarding school for boys in Years 9 – 13. The Sixth Form welcomes girls and boys as day pupils and is preparing for the entry of girls as boarders when construction of two new boarding houses is complete.
Winchester College is an English public school (a long-established fee-charging boarding school for pupils aged 13–18) with some provision for day attendees, in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 as a feeder school for New College, Oxford, and has existed in its present location ever since.
The College offers a range of public tours throughout the year, showcasing the College's history, architecture and gardens. These include: College Tours, which run daily and focus on the school's history and medieval architecture.
Our Housemasters are also available to talk to parents and pupils about their houses and answer any specific questions you may have, which we hope will help you decide which boarding house will be right for your child.
In the medieval heart of the school lies College, the original 14th century boarding house, home to seventy boys who demonstrate exceptional academic talent. Boys are invited to join College through a unique selection process called Election.
