  2. Lyford Cay was named after Captain William Lyford Jr., who was awarded the land by Royal Decree from King George III in 1788. The modern history of the island began when Canadian industrialist and thoroughbred horse breeder E. P. Taylor, affectionately known as Eddie, visited Nassau in 1945.

  10. The Lyford Cay golf course was originally designed by Dick Wilson and redesigned in 2006 by Rees Jones. It is a 7,007 yard, par-72 course of championship calibre. The Golf Shop features a professional teaching staff and carries a full range of men's and ladies' sports clothing.
