At the beginning of 1973, they were joined by drummer Div Vercoe, though within a few months, Vercoe, Golding and Howard had all departed, with Finn, Judd and Chunn recruiting Wally Wilkinson on guitar and Chunn's brother Geoff on drums.
When Split Enz traveled to England they decided to re-record four of the tracks off Mental Notes. By that time their lead guitarist, Wally Wilkinson, had left the band so they had his replacement, Robert Gillies, cover the guitar parts with his Saxophone.
Golding and Howard also left after the single's recording, at which time the group became an electric outfit, Paul "Wally" Wilkinson (lead guitar) joined the band and drummer Geoff Chunn joined full time.
