Biografia. Figlio di Linda Davis, una casalinga, e Rick Ashmore, direttore di un centro manifatturiero, Shawn ha frequentato la Turner Fenton Secondary School. Anche il suo fratello gemello, Aaron, è un attore: i due hanno recitato nel ruolo di gemelli in diversi film.
