Duke University offers 63 majors, 61 minors, and 23 certificates, with the opportunity to choose up to three academic pathways. With the ability to create combinations of the three, you have at least 430,000 unique academic combinations available.
History. Duke University was created in 1924 by James Buchanan Duke as a memorial to his father, Washington Duke. The Dukes, a Durham family that built a worldwide financial empire in the manufacture of tobacco products and developed electricity production in the Carolinas, long had been interested in Trinity College.

The Duke University Graduate School offers master’s and doctoral degrees in more than 80 departments and programs of study, as well as certificate programs; dual, joint, and 4+1 degrees; and graduate programs at Duke Kunshan.
