Tell Kunara is an ancient Near East archaeological site about 10 kilometers southwest of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. It lies on the Tanjaro River. The site was occupied from the Chalcolithic period to the early second millennium BC.

Towards the end of the 3rd millennium BC, this city stood in the heart of an unknown kingdom: that of the mountain people, who had until then remained in the shadow of their powerful Mesopotamian neighbours.

Kunara, a Bronze Age City on the Upper Tanjaro (Iraq) The archaeological expedition to Peramagron undertakes excavations at Kunara since 2012. This 7–10 hectare site, situated on the bank of the Tanjaro river, is one of the largest of the area.
Kunara is located in the vicinity of the modern city of Suleymanieh (Iraqi Kurdistan). It covers 7-10 ha and comprises an upper town to the west and a lower town. It was surrounded by paleao-channels that could have been used for irrigation purposes.
