Niyaz (Persian: نياز) is an Iranian Canadian musical duo. The group was created in 2004 by DJ, programmer/producer and remixer Carmen Rizzo, vocalist and hammered dulcimer player Azam Ali, formerly of the group Vas, and Ali's husband, Loga Ramin Torkian, of the Iranian crossover group Axiom Of Choice.
NIYAZ has created a 21st century global trance tradition by seamlessly blending medieval Sufi poetry and folk songs from their native Iran and its surrounding countries in the Persian Gulf, with rich acoustic instrumentation and state-of-the-art modern electronics.

Niyaz is led by front woman, AZAM ALI, whose Iranian heritage and Indian upbringing have formed a bewitching singer of richly textured proportions. Still, with all the mysticism and allure of their native lands, Niyaz is not limited by tradition.
Niyaz was founded in 2004 by captivating vocalist/ composer and two-time JUNO Award nominee Azam Ali, and multi-instrumentalist/ composer and JUNO Award nominee Loga Ramin Torkian.
Niyaz (pronounced NEE-ahz) is an acoustic electronic project that combies the talents of vocalist Azam Ali (of Vas), Loga Ramin Torkian (of Axiom Of Choice) and producer Carmen Rizzo to creature a fusion of Persian and Indian-influenced music with modern electronics.
