27 lug 2022 · Progress in prevention and treatment is faltering around the world, putting millions of people in grave danger. Eastern Europe and central Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa have all seen increases in annual HIV infections over several years.
New HIV infections have been reduced by 60% since the peak in 1995. In 2023, 1.3 million [1 million–1.7 million] people were newly infected with HIV, compared to 3.3 million [2.6 million–4.2 million] people in 1995. Women and girls accounted for 44% of all new infections in 2023.
