The Dr Foster Unit at Imperial makes several key contributions to the project which is facilitated by Dr Foster Intelligence. At the beginning, we advised on the data processing (e.g. determining what is an inpatient and defining the procedure groups) and ran the initial risk-adjustment models.
Background. Since 2007, the Dr Foster Unit has been notifying NHS trusts of possible high mortality outcomes for a range of diagnosis and procedures. Each month, we write to trusts with clear signals and share our findings with the Care Quality Commission.
