La PCR quantitativa (in inglese real time PCR o quantitative PCR, abbreviato qPCR) è un metodo che simultaneamente amplifica (reazione a catena della polimerasi o PCR) e quantifica il DNA, simile ma da non confondere col metodo RT-PCR (Reverse transcriptase-PCR).
La tecnica real time PCR o PCR quantitativa o RTq PCR, è una tecnica di laboratorio attraverso la quale si tipizza una molecola di DNA attraverso la ricerca - mediante una sonda - e la successiva amplificazione di un frammento.
A real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR, or qPCR when used quantitatively) is a laboratory technique of molecular biology based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It monitors the amplification of a targeted DNA molecule during the PCR (i.e., in real time), not at its end, as in conventional PCR.
