  5. 1 mar 2011 · Wuthering Heights is one intense, heartbreaking and tragic love story between Heathcliff and Catherine - two complex and unfortunately, not very endearing characters. It's a pretty good adaptation using the original text, although some parts did feel disconnected. I absolutely loved the fabulous hand-painted artwork by John M. Burns!

I read it in my early twenties, tried adaptations and I just don’t understand why it’s so loved. However, because this adaptation was from Tanya Landman I really wanted to read it. Even if it was Wuthering Heights and I didn’t dislike it.

Edgar Linton and Thrushcross Grange are the respectable veneer of the civilized world. Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights are the untamed animalistic nature that is in every human being. Cathy is caught between the two, as are most human beings.

My general non-love of this story notwithstanding, I'm sorry to say this weather primer version didn't really measure up to the rest of the BabyLit series for me.
