Mathias Gidsel (born 8 February 1999) is a Danish handball player for Füchse Berlin and the Danish national team. A two times winner of the World Championship with Denmark, and the 2023 winner of the Handball-Planet – Best World Handball Player, he is widely recognized as one of the great players of his generation.

25 mar 2024 · In less than three years, Gidsel cemented his status as one of the best players in the world, which was confirmed on Friday, when the Denmark right back was named the 2023 IHF Male Player of the Year, following in the footsteps of other two Danish players, Mikkel Hansen and Niklas Landin Jacobsen.
23 mag 2023 · At the 2021 World Championship, he was the shooting star of the eventual world champion; at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, he was tournament MVP at 21 and again voted for the All-star team. At the EHF EURO 2022, he won bronze as the All-star team right back but tore his cruciate ligament in the 3-4 placement match.
