Buddy Holly laid the foundations for a generation of popular music with his ground-breaking combination of country music and rhythm & blues. This film tells his story from its explosive beginning to its tragic end with Gary Busey giving an electrifying, Oscar nominated performance (Best Actor - 1978) as the young genius from Lubbock, Texas, who changed the tune of rock 'n' roll history.
Released in a hardboard box with full-color cover containing the 9 LP's. Also a full size 16 page booklet with information about Buddy Holly, his life and his musical career, tracklists and information about the tracks and original releases. Also included in the box a huge color poster.
The musical career of rock and roll pioneer Buddy Holly is chronicled, from the days when "Peggy Sue" was "Cindy Lou", a song about his first girlfriend, to the meteoric run of "That'll Be the Day" up the charts, to his marriage, breakup with the Crickets, reunion with the Crickets, and untimely death.
Track times digitized from LP Microgroove Unbreakable Produced shortly after his death in 1959. It is a greatest hits eulogy album from single records and the albums, "Buddy Holly," and "The Chirpin' Crickets".
The album was released on February 28, 1959 by Coral Records less than a month after Holly's death. [1] The album featured previously released singles by Buddy Holly on both the Brunswick label (with the Crickets) and the Coral label (as a solo artist). [5] The album became a top twenty hit in the United States and England.
