Mountain Battles and Fate to Fatal (2008–10) The Breeders performing at the Black Cat nightclub in Washington, D.C. in 2009. Mountain Battles was released in April 2008 on 4AD. It features Kim and Kelley, Jose Medeles, and Mando Lopez. They went to Refraze Recording Studio in Dayton, Ohio to record and mix the majority of the tracks.

The Breeders' sound has changed hugely since the early nineties, and some believe for the better, others not. In Fate to Fatal, they seem to have found some middle ground. And it's tasty. "Fate to Fatal" seems to mix their newer way with their older rock, and the grunge is still there.
