In that time, they've worked together on ten films, with the last two coming out just this past year. Their latest film, Cast Away, only featured about 12-minutes of score in the entire film.

To ensure that the performances would grow organically, Zemeckis chose to shoot the film sequentially on the John Gatins penned original screenplay, which he started writing back in 1999. Silvestri admits that this fact alone can add some pressure.
But Alan Silvestri's seven-minute end-credit track is a beautiful theme for the film and works as a stand-alone: it won a Grammy for best instrumental composition. The nine other cuts trace the music that composer Silvestri has created for director Robert Zemeckis, and theirs is one of the prolific collaborations in American cinema.
