We choose to end outdated transport that emits toxic fumes, remove pollution from the air using both technology and nature, and eliminate the burning of fossil fuels, choosing 100% renewable energy for everyone – from big cities to rural villages. Earthshot Prize. The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental award that is rewarded to five winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism. It was first awarded in 2021 and is planned to run annually until 2030. Each winner receives a grant of £1 million to continue their environmental work.
Our technology, developed in partnership with fishing communities, is both easy to use and can be adopted at scale, meaning responsible small- scale fishers across the globe can be appreciated as stewards of the ocean. Our gratitude to The Earthshot Prize for recognising the efforts of coastal communities in this endeavour.”
At a star-studded Awards Ceremony at Mediacorp Campus, we announced our five Earthshot Prize Winners for 2023. In that moment, Ankit had an idea that would soon become his business: Phool, the company that created Fleather. At first, Phool collected this floral waste and turned it into incense sticks. As they did, however, something extraordinary happened. A thick mat-like substance began to grow over the unused fibres lying on their factory floor.
THE EARTHSHOTS . Taking inspiration from President John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot, which united millions of people around the goal to put man on the moon and catalysed the development of new technology in the 1960s, The Earthshot Prize is centred around five ‘Earthshots’, simple but ambitious goals for our planet which if achieved by 2030 will improve life for us all, for generations to come.
