James Frederick Lilja (Los Angeles, 7 mei 1966) is een Amerikaanse gynaecologische oncoloog en drummer. Lilja is vooral bekend als de eerste drummer van de punkrockband The Offspring en trad op met de band tussen 1984 en 1987.
After drummer Ron Welty joined the band in 1987 to replace James Lilja, the band started recording their debut album in 1989. [5] After recording a demo in 1988, [6] the Offspring signed a deal with a small-time label, Nemesis Records , for whom they recorded their first full-length album, The Offspring , in March 1989. [6]

In July 1987, 16-year-old Welty joined the Offspring, replacing James Lilja. Welty knew other members of the Offspring and lived in the same neighbourhood as Welty. Even though he was too young to get into many of the clubs where the band played, Welty convinced them to let him replace their previous drummer.
