27 feb 2021 · The Velvet Underground’s Squeeze would be an anomaly in any band’s discography, let alone one of the most influential groups of the 20th Century.Disowned by critics and fans alike for, among other things, not featuring any of the band’s original line-up, Squeeze is an impersonation, but hardly as bad as you might have been made to believe.

Album review. Not as bad as you might think doesn’t seem like high praise, but when it comes to Squeeze -- the album Doug Yule released under the Velvet Underground’s name after the departure of Lou Reed -- it kind of is.
Squeeze is not a Velvet Underground album, and I think that's the biggest crime it committed. What Squeeze is is a neat little British-invasion influenced Pop album, sure it's simple and a little dull, but it's rarely bad except when he's trying to ape Lou Reed's lyrical/vocal style. I’m a huge velvet underground fan and I’m happy to have it in my collection. I recommend buying a copy Now while it’s still relatively inexpensive if you’re a completist. I do not recommend the actual music, or really consider it a velvet underground record as none of the original members are part of it. It’s more of a curiosity
