Roddy McMillan (1923–1979) was a Scottish actor, producer and writer, best known for the part he played as Para Handy, the mischievous skipper of the Scottish puffer, The Vital Spark. Early life Born in Glasgow, Roddy McMillan was the son of parents from the Highlands.
17 dic 2015 · Roddy McMillan played Handy (he’d appeared as Dougie in 1959) and there were three series – which aired in 1965, 1967 and 1973/74 (the 1970’s episodes were essentially remakes of selected scripts from the two 1960s runs). As might be expected, the archive status (like so many other programmes of the era) isn’t particularly good.

There were 14 episodes between 1965 and 1967, 7 of which were remade in colour and broadcast in 1973/74).
