Rocky, who is also a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, is most famous for being one-half of the first African-American tag team champions in WWE history. They went backstage to meet an up-and-coming wrestling prospect who had borrowed from family names to call his character Rocky Maivia. His real name was Dwayne Johnson, the son of Rocky Johnson and Ata Maivia, Peter Maivia's daughter.
Maivia joins her late husband, WWE Hall of Famer “High Chief” Peter Maivia, in the WWE Hall of Fame, as the two key figures in the rich wrestling history of Hawaii. After The High Chief’s passing in 1982, Maivia took over control of the National Wrestling Alliance territory in Hawaii known as Polynesian Pro Wrestling where she became one of wrestling’s first-ever woman promoters.
