My Gal Loves Music is a 1944 American comedy film directed by Edward C. Lilley and written by Eugene Conrad and Edward Dein. The film stars Bob Crosby, Grace McDonald, Alan Mowbray, Betty Kean, Walter Catlett and Freddie Mercer. The film was released on December 1, 1944, by Universal Pictures.
For Me and My Gal (1942) is very much the "forgotten" Judy Garland classic. Although a big hit in 1942 (bringing in $4.8 million on an investment of just over $800,000), it is not as often revived as films like The Wizard of Oz (1939), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) or even her two other pictures with Gene Kelly, The Pirate (1948) and Summer Stock (1950).
Set during WW I, Palmer and Hayden team up as vaudeville artists. Harry Palmer deliberately injures his hand to avoid being drafted to the army. Later, he makes up for this. WW I patriotism for a WW II audience, very sentimental, great musical episodes and songs.
