This legislation would repeal the federal mandate that requires state Medicaid programs go after families and estates for repayment of Medicaid long-term care services.

Schakowsky was elected to represent Illinois’ 9th Congressional District on November 3, 1998. The 9th Congressional District encompasses city and suburbs, including the North Lakeshore of Chicago, Evanston, Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove and several Northwest Side neighborhoods. She was reelected in 2018 to her tenth term.
