Humphrey Metrodome, often simply called the "Metrodome" or the "Met", was named for Hubert Humphrey, who served in the United States Senate from 1948 to 1964 and 1971 to 1978 and was the Vice President under Lyndon B. Johnson from 1965 to 1969. The "Homer Dome" replaced Metropolitan Stadium.
