1 giorno fa · Joos de Momper the Younger. 1564 - 1634/5. De Momper was born in Antwerp, and was probably taught there by his father, Bartholomeus. He may have visited Italy later. By 1590 he had returned to Antwerp, where he was active as a painter, and where he died.
Biography. Joos de Momper the Younger or Joost de Momper the Younger (1564 – February 5, 1635) was a Flemish landscape painter active in Antwerp between the late 16th century and the early 17th century. Brueghel's influence is clearly evident in many of de Momper's paintings.

Joos de Momper was one of the most prolific landscape painters of the late sixteenth- and early seventeenth century. Typically, his pictures show wide panoramas of wooded and mountainous landscapes. This print design, however, more resembles a genre scene, a type of imagery he reserved for his print designs.
