Clara Mary Jane Clairmont, besser bekannt als Claire Clairmont (* 27. April 1798 in England; † 19. März 1879 in Florenz) war eine britische Erzieherin und Geliebte des berühmten Dichters Lord Byron sowie Stieftochter des Philosophen William Godwin und Stiefschwester der Schriftstellerin Mary Shelley geborene Godwin.
Biographie. Clara Mary Jane Clairmont communément connue sous le nom de Claire Clairmont, née le 27 avril 1798 et morte le 19 mars 1879 à Florence, est la fille de la belle-mère de Mary Shelley, femme de lettres, et la mère de Allegra, fille illégitime de Lord Byron .

She was born, probably illegitimately, to a Mary Jane Deveraux, who happened to move to London close to the residence of one William Godwin, who was at that moment mourning the sudden death of his new wife, Mary Wollstonecraft, in childbirth.
