22 lug 2005 · The Island segna il tentativo di Bay di sganciarsi, almeno sulla carta, dai copioni da basso quoziente intellettivo proposti finora e sfiorare temi più complessi e attuali, quale è quello della clonazione, chiave di volta di quest'avventura. Purtroppo il tentativo è riuscito a metà e, spiace dirlo, stavolta non solo per colpa di Bay.

The island non è un film disprezzabile negli intenti che sono quelli di affrontare, sebbene nel solito modo spettacolare dei film di Michael Bay, un tema impegnativo quale quello della clonazione. Il film purtroppo ha nella sceneggiatura, piuttosto stereotipata e convenzionale, il suo limite.
