18 gen 2024 · Forbidden Planet is een science-fiction film uit 1956 gebaseerd op Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’, en geregisseerd door Fred Wilcox, een naar mijn mening onderschatte regisseur die vooral bekend is van Lassie Come Home (1943) en The Secret Garden (1948).
I didn't see "Forbidden Planet" (1956) until a full four decades after it's debut. I've seen it a few more times since then and here's what strikes me: For one, although Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry is undeniably great, practically every primary aspect of Trek is present in "Forbidden Planet," which was released almost a decade before the first Star Trek pilot episode was produced (!).
20 giu 2002 · Forbidden Planet is unquestionably one of the all-time science-fiction classics. Many regard it as the best science-fiction film to come out of the 1950s. Personally, I think that is a status that belongs to either Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) or The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) – but Forbidden Planet would certainly be up there in the top handful of the era’
