They had a daughter born in 1824. His nephew, Edward FitzClarence also served in the Royal Fusiliers but died of wounds after the storming of the Redan at Sevastopol in 1854. Frederick Wing was born in Christchurch, Hampshire [1] in November 1860, the son of Major Vincent Wing and Gertrude Elizabeth Wing (née Vane). In May 1880 aged nineteen , Wing joined the Royal Horse Artillery after graduating from the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. [2]
