6 lug 2022 · About Ruth Asawa. Ruth Asawa (1926–2013) was a Japanese American artist, educator, and arts advocate primarily active in San Francisco, California. Born to immigrant parents in Norwalk, California, she and her family were among 120,000 Japanese Americans forcibly incarcerated under Executive Order 9066 in 1942.

In 1982, San Francisco declared February 12 “Ruth Asawa Day” in honor of her impact on the city’s art community. Her work is in the permanent collections of museums nationwide and earned solo exhibitions at the de Young Museum in 2006 and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in 2018.

Students develop communication and collaboration skills which enable them to affect change or accomplish goals through group processes. Student Government meets every Tuesday, during lunch, in room 223.
18 apr 2024 · Ruth Asawa School Of The Arts is a very special high school in San Francisco. It is the only public SFUSD high school that is audition based. Students who manage to get into the school are privileged with the ability to have access to so many art resources that are valuable for college and beyond.
