The palette Eric Bibb uses for Painting Signs contains only a couple of shades of blue, which he deploys on Jimmy Reed's "Honest I Do" and the old blues-ballad "Delia's Gone". Most of the other songs are tinted with an optimistic rose, as befits positive messages like Pops Staples' "Hope In A Hopeless World", Rev Gary Davis's "I Heard The Angels Singin'" or Bibb's own "Got To Do Better".
