6 mar 2022 · Soon after, he reconnected with Parkin in Flagship, which evolved into Be-Bop Deluxe with bassist Robert Bryan, drummer Nicholas Chatterton-Dew, and keyboardist Richard Brown. Chatterton-Dew came from the Holyground act Jumble Lane. Be-Bop Deluxe issued their first single, “Teenage Archangel” (b/w “Jets at Dawn”), in 1973 on Smile.

Originally a quartet with Ian Parkin on acoustic guitar, Robert Ryan on bass and Nicholas Chatterton-Dew on drums, Nelson fired the band after the initial tour. Preparing for the next album, Paul Jeffreys and Milton Reames-James of Cockney Rebel were hired for the bass and keyboard parts, respectively, with Simon Fox on drums.
The line-up of Nelson, Nicholas Chatterton-Dew (drums), Robert Bryan (bass, vocals) and Ian Parkin (d. July 1995; guitar) recorded Axe Victim as BE-BOP DELUXE. Nelson soon disbanded the outfit, and following a tour supporting Cockney Rebel, he formed a new band, taking members from that fragmented unit.
