Brewster Place becomes, unfortunately, the worst place for them - thanks to homophobia’s creeping tendrils. I got a pit in my stomach when I got a sense of where their plot thread was heading. Amidst the tragedy of their story (which veers into hyper-hysteric theatrics, not unlike a few other plots present), there are some heartening scenes I’ll keep with me.

She goes through the trials and tribulations of being a black single mother with little to no help to make it.
