A masterpiece of story telling. Moshe Mizrahi gets the deep truths of human connection and need. I am in awe. A film that makes me feel as if seeing it is an honor. Simone Signoret is raw and honest, both she and Jean Rochefort give performances of such purity that I am moved by their artistry as well as the story. The story is beautiful, and in the hands of Mizrahi a deep journey of the heart.

Based on the novel by Bernice Rubens, I Sent a Letter to My Love stars Simone Signoret as a woman who has reached middle age without truly learning how to live. Responsible for the constant care of her paraplegic brother Jean Rochefort, Signoret seeks a brief respite from her confinement by inaugurating a pen-pal relationship with a man she has never met.
A middle-aged disabled man unknowingly begins a lonely hearts correspondence with his own unmarried sister, who takes care of him. As he writes more and more to her, he begins to fall in love, and she, knowing that it is her brother who is writing, discovers a new, tender side to him. But trouble looms when he asks to meet her in person.
