Elisabeth (Bep) Voskuijl werd geboren op 5 juli 1919 in Amsterdam. Ze is het oudste kind van Johannes Hendrik Voskuijl en Christina Sodenkamp. Na haar worden in het gezin nog zeven kinderen geboren: Johanna Christina, Wilhelmina Hendrika, Hendrika Petronella, Cornelia Margaretha, Johannes Hendrik, Gerda en Dina.
