Maynard Dixon painted this frontier homestead during his first trip to Utah in the summer of 1933. Dixon explored southern Utah with his wife, Dorothea Lange, and their two young songs. The geology of the area captivated the artist, as did the hardworking character of the “Mormon” settlers.

1 lug 2017 · It was cool to learn about Maynard Dixon, whom I had never heard of, yet has some historical significance. I was hoping to purchase a painting, but the least expensive original (not Dixon) was about $2,000. An 8x10 print is $75. It's worth a quick stop to stretch and enjoy some art and history.
