In Halle befand man Alexander von Kluck, den man ja gut kannte und im Geiste jener Zeit als Person der Weltgeschichte betrachtete, 1916 für würdig, Namensgeber für den Platz nahe Kisker’s Bogen zu werden, als als Geschenk zu dessen 70. 6 apr 2020 · Alexander Heinrich Rudolf von Kluck was born in Munster, Westphalia on May 20, 1846. He began his military service as a lieutenant during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. He fought at Dermbach and Kissingen under General von Goeben and was awarded the Memorial Cross. Kluck also fought in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71 as a company commander.
Von Kluck's role in the plan was to command the extreme right of the German forces in attacking the left flank of the French army and encircling Paris, bringing a rapid conclusion to the war.
