Dorothy Binney Palmer (née Binney; July 20, 1888 – May 9, 1982) was an American explorer, socialite, and friend to Amelia Earhart.
Dorothy Binney Putnam was, among other traits, an avid naturalist and explorer. Any person who drives down the six-mile stretch of Indrio Road in our county, is struck by the beauty of the canopy of oak trees she planted, with her father Edwin, along what was in 1913 a dirt track.
In 1911, Putnam married Dorothy Binney (1888–1982), the daughter of Edwin Binney, inventor and co-owner, with cousin C. Harold Smith, of Bonney & Smith Inc., the company that made Crayola crayons.
