Due erano gli indizi ben precisi che deponevano a favore di questo “Easy Virtue”: 1) L'estroverso regista australiano Stephan Elliott, uno che ha sempre centellinato i suoi lavori per il cinema – non dirigeva un lungometraggio dal 1999 – ha deciso di “resuscitare” una piece teatrale degli anni '20, probabilmente quel testo doveva contenere qualcosa di buono.

Il suo 'Matrimonio all'inglese' (in originale 'Easy Virtue') impone infatti Jessica Biel, che esce alla pari dal temibile confronto con la cinquantenne Kristin ScottThomas. Eppure la Biel parte con lo svantaggio del personaggio positivo, quindi meno interessante: è la buona, americana e spregiudicata, contro la suocera, inglese e arcigna, che ha però le battute migliori.
