26 ago 2019 · London. 26 August 2019. 22 tri-Service aircrew graduated from the Defence Helicopter Flying School ( DHFS) at RAF Shawbury. The parade celebrated both the graduation of the first 13 pilots to complete their training within the Rotary Wing UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) as well as the graduation of 9 helicopter Rearcrew.
The Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury, a Royal Air Force station near Shrewsbury, England, trains aircrew from all three of the Armed Forces. The DHFS has three flying squadrons: 660 Squadron, Army Air Corps and 705 Naval Air Squadron - These are 'parallel' training squadrons teaching Basic and Advanced single-engined helicopter flying to students from all 3 Services. 30 mar 2018 · Flying training at Shawbury began in 1917, while Monkmoor airfield opened in 1918 as home for the Observers School of Reconnaissance and Aerial Photography. 1920s And then there were none.
As well as gaining flying skills helicopter pupils also take survival and leadership courses. All helicopter training is carried out at the Defence Helicopter Flying School, RAF Shawbury, which provides instruction for pupils from all three Services using the the Bell Griffin HT1 and Eurocopter Squirrel HT1.
Shawbury was first used for flying training in 1917. It was not until 1976 that it became a base for basic and advanced helicopter training with No 2 Flying Training School.
