3 dic 2018 · Vyborg has plenty of Northern modern. The Round Tower is a stone artillery tower, one of the two Vyborg medieval towers survived up to our days. It was built in 1547 – 1550, and now hosts The Round Tower restaurant. The streets of Vyborg go up and down. Time seems to have stood still in the town.
Vyborg (Russian: Выборг; Finnish: Viipuri; Swedish: Viborg; German: Wiborg) is a town in Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It is on the Karelian Isthmus and is about 130 km (81 mi) northwest of St. Petersburg , near the border with Finland .
In 1710, Vyborg was captured by Peter I, and in 1721 officially became part of the Russian Empire. There are more than 300 attractions in Vyborg: architectural, historical, landscape, sculptural, and archaeological. Vyborg castle and St. Olaf’s Tower are considered the most popular among tourists.

25 set 2019 · Old City is located in the center of the town called Vyborg, in the North-Western part of Russian Federation, close to the border with Finland. In fact, Vyborg has been during centuries Finnish or Swedish, and you can see this fact in the old buildings of the old town. In fact, ot seems more an Escandinavian city than a Russian one.
From Helsinki to Vyborg it takes 2,5 hours. Upon leaving the train in Vyborg, you must go through the border control before entering Russia (the station and the city). From St Petersburg, there are more than 20 trains a day, and the journey usually takes between 1 to 2 hours.
