After being the Head of UWC Atlantic College from 1969 to 1982 he accepted the challenge of becoming the founding Rettore at UWC Adriatic – the first UWC in a non-Anglo Saxon country. Upon retiring, in 2001, David Sutcliffe then dedicated his boundless energy and drive to creating a UWC in Mostar, making his dream come true in 2006.
