Compliance is a difficult film to watch. But it is also riveting, fascinating and important. And it is also a film that probably should be shown in every high school classroom in the US and Canada. It is essential viewing. Why should a film that is so uncomfortable to watch that some people walked out on it but also should be essential viewing?
Creepy, uncomfortable and unnerving for sure, the subject is a bit of a stretch in feature film length and probably better suited as some sort of episode on ID, analyzing the psychology of these incidents. Still, the performances by Ann Dowd and Dreama Walker were both quite good. 3.25/5
Inspired by true events, Compliance tells the chilling story of just how far one might go to obey a figure of authority.
