24 lug 2013 · American Splendor lässt sich sehr schwer einordnen. Nicht nur wegen des Inhaltes, sondern auch wegen der Art und Weise der Umsetzung. Während Paul Giamatti als Darsteller von Harvey Pekar sehr wohl überzeugt, lässt es sich das Original dennoch nicht nehmen, ebenfalls vor die Kamera zu treten.

The first issue was published in 1976 and the most recent in September 2008, with publication occurring at irregular intervals. Publishers have been, at various times, Harvey Pekar himself, Dark Horse Comics, and DC Comics.
