Carol Reed (30. december 1906 – 25. april 1976) var en britisk filminstruktør. Han var oprindelig skuespiller, men blev snart filminstruktør og producer. Hans mest kendte film er nok Den tredje mand , som vandt både en Oscar og Grand Prix i Cannes.

Carol Reed was de buitenechtelijke zoon van Herbert Beerbohm Tree, een van de grootste acteurs van zijn tijd, met zijn maîtresse May Pinney Reed. Hij werd geboren in Putney, Londen, en kreeg les aan The King's School te Canterbury. Op jonge leeftijd kreeg hij interesse in acteren, maar zijn moeder zag zoiets niet zitten.
