John Lindley Byrne ( Walsall, 6 juli 1950) is een in Engeland geboren Amerikaanse stripauteur. Sinds de jaren zeventig heeft Byrne meegewerkt aan strips van vrijwel elke bekende Amerikaanse superheld. Zijn beroemdste werk is dat bij Marvel Comics aan de X-Men - en Fantastic Four -series. Ook werkte hij bij DC Comics aan onder andere Superman.
Nel 1996 Byrne decise di lasciare temporaneamente il mondo della Formula 1, per poi essere chiamato dalla Scuderia Ferrari nel 1997 subentrando a John Barnard insieme con Ross Brawn. Prima di essere chiamato dalla Ferrari, Byrne aveva progettato di aprire una scuola di sub in Thailandia.
