The Birth of a Nation is a 1915 American silent epic drama film directed and co-produced by D. W. Griffith and starring Lillian Gish. The screenplay is adapted from the novel and play The Clansman, by Thomas Dixon Jr. Griffith co-wrote the screenplay with Frank E. Woods, and co-produced the film with Harry Aitken.
Questo 'The Birth of a Nation' non è un remake del classico David Wark Griffith (secondo molti il più bel film della storia del cinema, secondo moltissimi il più ignobile). Ignobile perché razzista al cubo, era l'esaltazione del Ku Klux Klan e si concludeva (in gloria secondo Griffith) col linciaggio di un nero.
