Red Letter Days atteint la 32 e place au Billboard 200. Il est le premier album des Wallflowers dans lequel Jakob Dylan joue la majorité des parties de guitare solo [ 26 ] . L'album contient un son plus agressif que dans les précédents albums, spécialement la chanson Everybody Out of the Water , au The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn et qui figure dans le film Terminator 2 .
Settling down from the rush of success, the Wallflowers rightfully took a long four-year break from recording. The new millennium sparked new creativity, and the Wallflowers returned in October 2000 to release the excellent Breach. The album went largely ignored, leading to the more mainstream Red Letter Days the following year.
26 lug 2006 · Red Letter Days is probably a good CD but I sent it back because it had a large crack which was big enough that my Bose would not play it. The Wallflowers is an underrated period band. So I sent it back to Las Vegas within the allowable returns period prior to January 31st 2021 and thought nothing more of it.

The quality of “Red Letter Days” is consistently high, and the decision to play more mainstream is understandable, though the effort ultimately proved futile. For all the positive reviews, the sales of “Breach” fell far behind the colossal success of “Bringing Down the Horse”, and The Wallflowers had plenty of reason to believe that their classical rock/folk style had grown ...
