Nel 1959 si laurea in contabilità presso la University of Oregon e tre anni più tardi consegue un Master in Business Administration. È proprio in quell’anno che ha il suo primo spunto per la creazione del brand Nike.
Philip Hampson Knight è uno degli uomini d’affari più influenti al mondo. Fondatore della Nike, Inc., è stato amministratore delegato della società dal 1964 al 2004. È inoltre il presidente del consiglio di amministrazione. Ha scritto L'arte della vittoria. Autobiografia del fondatore della Nike (Mondadori 2016).
