9 ago 2016 · Mauno Koivisto (1923–2017) nousi presidentiksi Urho Kekkosen pitkän valtakauden jälkeen vuonna 1982. Uusi presidentti alkoi hiljalleen purkaa edeltäjänsä luomaa valtajärjestelmää. Ennen presidenttiyttä Koivisto oli ollut pääministerinä ensi kerran jo vuonna 1968, välillä Suomen Pankin johdossa, kunnes palasi politiikkaan pääministerin paikalle vuonna 1979.
