Philip Kaufman is an American film director and screenwriter especially known for his adaptations of literary works, notably The Right Stuff (1983) and The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988). He is also noted for his 1978 remake of The Invasion of the Body Snatchers and his 2000 adaptation of the play Quills.
